MEET TAMARA
"I used to be a doctor who treated your symptoms but now I am a practitioner who will support you in your journey to health and vitality."
I am from Trinidad and Tobago and worked there as a doctor for a number of years in Oncology and Haematology with some experience in Urology at the San Fernando General Hospital. I found that experience profoundly rewarding and it served my innate desire to help people. However, many of my patients had recurrences and succumbed to their cancers as it would seem that surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are only part of the puzzle of chronic disease.
I resigned from my position at the hospital feeling incredibly overwhelmed, exhausted, unable to catch my breath and with the realisation that the need for money was not enough compensation for the trade off. I did not know it then but I was sick with an autoimmune illness. I was diagnosed a few months later and began a life-changing journey fuelled by powerful influences.
I have managed to control my illness taking the holistic approach to health using the disciplines of Functional Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, Energetic Medicine, Source Resonances and Applied Kinesiology (Muscle Response Testing). I practised as a doctor but now, I have found a better way. I am the proof in the pudding!
My journey has involved my re-education. I have completed the Advanced Practice Modules in Bioenergetics, Cardiometabolic, Environmental Health, Gastrointestinal, Hormone and Immune and the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice course by the Institute of Functional Medicine; NutriHub's Foundation, Advanced Part 1 and 2 courses; and Classical Kinesiology Institute's Muscle Response Testing Skills (Applied Kinesiology). I would like to become a Certified Practitioner of Functional Medicine as I continue to evolve to better be able to guide you back to health.
I qualified as a medical doctor at Palacký University in the Czech Republic but I do not practice medicine in the UK and I am not registered with the GMC.
I am a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine and the British Holistic Medical Association.
